Delivery Driver Fends Off Robbery Attempt

MOUNT VERNON, VA — A food delivery driver was nearly robbed Sunday afternoon in the 8200 block of Claremont Wood Drive, according to Fairfax County Police.

The driver, 51, was delivering food in the area when he was approached by an unknown man, according to a police report. The suspect opened the door to the victim's car and grabbed the food.

He attempted to flee, but the victim and the suspect struggled. An unknown woman eventually intervened and the suspect fled without the food.

The victim was not injured, according to police.

Police describe the suspect as a black male in his late teens, about 6 feet tall. He was wearing a gray jacket and dark pants.
