Family Of Four Loses Home In Mount Vernon Fire

Three children and an adult were forced out of the home during a fire overnight Saturday.

Three children and an adult were displaced from their condo after a Saturday fire in Mount Vernon.

Around 3:35 a.m., units responded to the fire in the 3800 block of Miramonte Place. There were no signs of smoke or fire outside the two-story condo unit, but firefighters located and extinguished the blaze in a bathroom.

The smell of smoke alerted the residents to the fire. There were no injuries.

Fire investigators determined that the fire started in a bathroom ceiling fan due to an arc from the household electrical wiring. The smoke alarms appeared to be working. Damages are estimated to be $37,500.

The four displaced residents have accepted Red Cross assistance.
