Get your Thanksgiving fixings at the Farmers Market

Mt. Vernon Farmers Market has everything you need

For a delicious Thanksgiving, get your turkey and all the trimmingsโ€”pumpkin pies, potatoes, sweet potatoes and much moreโ€”at the Mount Vernon Farmers Market, held every Wednesday (including the day before Thanksgiving) from 8 a.m. to noon at the Sherwood Hall Regional Library, 2501 Sherwood Hall Lane. Both Honey Brook Farms and Valentineโ€™s Bakery & Meats are taking orders for locally raised turkeys. For an appetizer or alternative to turkey, Arnest Seafood offers impeccably fresh fish, crab cakes, crab dip and more from the Chesapeake Bay. The marketโ€™s produce vendorsโ€”Laurel Grove Farms, Ochoa Produce and Three Way Farmsโ€”will have plenty of potatoes and vegetables, while Twin Springs Fruit Farm offers award-winning apples, cider, vegetables and more.

Stop by Graceโ€™s Pastries, Great Harvest Bread Co. and Valentineโ€™s Bakery & Meats for a variety of breads, rolls and pies for your Thanksgiving table. The Jammerie will be selling three types of cranberry sauceโ€”traditional, one with orange and a spicy version with chipotle pepper. Pick up herbs and spices for your feast at Sharkawi Farmsโ€™ stand. In addition to its farm-fresh milk, chocolate milk, cheese and ice cream (including pumpkin spice), Misty Meadow Farm Creamery is taking orders for pumpkin cheesecake.

While youโ€™re shopping at the market, treat yourself to a cup of coffee or espresso drink from the marketโ€™s newest vendor, Dawn and Dusk Coffee Co., or some hot chocolate or pumpkin spice latte from Misty Meadow.

The Mt. Vernon Farmers Market will be open every Wednesday through Dec. 19. It is one of 11 farmers markets run by the Fairfax County Park Authority. All of the Park Authority markets are strictly producer-only, meaning that all of the farmers and producers may only sell what they raise on their farms or make from scratch. All of the farmers and producers come from within a 125 mile radius of Fairfax County.
