Maryland Man Caught Breaking Into Cars in Belle View Area: Police
He's apprehended after crashing his vehicle in a short chase, say Fairfax County police.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — The Fairfax County police said Tuesday that they spotted a Maryland man breaking into cars parked in the Belle View neighborhood and caught him after a short vehicle chase.
Officers arrested Michael Terrell Boone, 28, of Oxon Hill, MD, on Tuesday morning after he crashed his car at the intersection of 10th and I streets. Boone was charged with two counts of grand larceny, two counts of petit larceny, reckless driving and failure to obey a lawful command of a law enforcement officer, according to a police report.
Boone was injured in the crash and treated at the scene by Fire and Rescue Department personnel, the police said. No officers were injured, and no police cruisers or other vehicles were damaged.

The incident began at about 9 a.m. Tuesday, as officers were investigating several reports of vehicle tampering in the Belle View area, in and around the 6300 block of 10th Street. "There were at least six cars that had been broken into at that time." the police report stated.
The officers received a report of a suspicious person in the area. They found that individual, identified as Boone, and tried to speak to him, according to the report.

But Boone drove off in his 2016 Chevrolet Cruze and crashed a short distance away, the police said. After he was treated for his injuries, Boone was taken to the detention center at the Mount Vernon District Station.
