Nearly 1,000 Without Power Saturday Night in Fort Hunt, Mount Vernon
Severe storms swept through the area Saturday night.
The Mount Vernon and Fort Hunt areas were seeing about 1,000 homes without power Saturday night after several powerful thunderstorms swept through the area.
The Dominion Virginia Power outage map showed 651 homes without power along Richmond Highway in the Mount Vernon area; another 361 homes near Fort Hunt were without power according to the map. Much of the area appears to have seen power restored as of about 5:30 a.m. Sunday.

About 42,000 homes in Northern Virginia were without power Saturday night, including nearly 15,000 in the City of Alexandria.
The entire area including Fairfax County, Alexandria, Arlington and Falls Church is under a Flood Warning until 5:30 a.m. Sunday.
