Teen Dies After Accidentally Shooting Self In Mount Vernon
Police say a 16-year-old boy was handling a gun on his bed when the gun went off.
MOUNT VERNON, VA—A teen died after accidentally shooting himself with a gun Thursday in Mount Vernon.
Around 7 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the 8400 hundred block of Del Norte Court. Investigations revealed the 16-year-old teen was handling a gun on a bed when it accidentally went off. Police did not say how many bullets struck him, but he was hit in the upper body. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police did not release the minor's identity. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is conducting an autopsy.
