Two Displaced by Attic Fire; $70,000 Damage to Home
Fairfax County Fire & Rescue says a hot, energized electrical wire ignited nearby combustible materials and caused the fire.

Firefighters from Fairfax County Fire & Rescue responded to a house fire Saturday, Dec. 19, at approximately 12:10 p.m., in the Alexandria area of Fairfax County. The single-family home is located at 9229 Forest Haven Drive (see map below).
Firefighters encountered fire and smoke coming from the roof and attic of the two-story home upon arrival. Firefighters conducted an aggressive fire attack and quickly brought the fire under control. The fire was reported by the occupants upon hearing a noise in the attic area where the fire started. Both occupants escaped unharmed. Two occupants have been displaced and have declined Red Cross support. There were no injuries.
Damage is estimated $70,000.
