U.S. News 2020 High School Rankings: 3 In VA, DC In Top 100

Measures taken to stem the spread of the new coronavirus have kept students home from school for weeks and put spring activities in jeopardy, but U.S. News & World Report has kept up its rankings. The publication finds one school in Virginia and two in Washington, D.C., are among the top 100 high schools in the nation. The northern Virginia school was also named as best in the nation.

Church Donates Truckloads Of Food For Families During Coronavirus

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Tuesday delivered more than 10,500 pounds of food, including beef stew, applesauce, spaghetti and green beans, to the Western Fairfax Christian Ministries in Chantilly. WFCM is currently serving food to more than 600 families as a result of the coronavirus crisis, up from 400 families they normally serve each month.

VA Passes 10,000 Cases Of Coronavirus As Lawmakers Reconvene

The number of people in Virginia who have tested positive for the new coronavirus passed the 10,000 mark Wednesday, according to the latest data from the Virginia Department of Health. The total number of positive cases now stands at 10,266, an increase of 636 people from Tuesday's report.

15 More DC Residents Die Due To Coronavirus; 3,206 Positive Cases

The D.C. Health Department confirmed 15 new deaths due to the new coronavirus, bringing the total number of coronavirus deaths in the District to 127. D.C. Health also confirmed 108 new positive coronavirus cases, bringing the overall total to 3,206.

Falls Church T-Shirt Fundraiser Buys Small Business Gift Cards

Adena Williams and Suzanne Hladky thought they would sell only 50 T-shirts from their fundraiser to support Falls Church small businesses and residents in need during the coronavirus crisis. Little did they know, the donations would keep coming.

Senator Holds Graduation Speech Contest For High School Seniors

Sen. Tim Kaine is holding an "Everybody's the Graduation Speaker" video contest for high school seniors whose in-person graduation ceremonies are getting postponed or canceled due to the coronavirus crisis. Kaine is inviting all members of Virginia's class of 2020 to submit a video of an original speech they would like to give at their graduation ceremony.
