“Despite the disruptions from the pandemic in 2020, our students managed to maintain good scores on both the reading-writing and math sections of the SAT,” said Superintendent Scott S. Brabrand. “We appreciate our students’ diligence and hard work during this unsettled time.”

The high level of SAT performance among Fairfax County seniors persisted despite reduced opportunities in spring 2020 for students to retake the exam for a higher score. A total of 9,748 Fairfax County seniors took the SAT, or approximately 67 percent. Due to coronavirus-driven closures of exam sites regionwide, approximately 165 fewer Fairfax County seniors in the Class of 2020 took the SAT compared to the previous graduating class.
