Fairfax County Schools Make March 22 Weather Decision
Kids get another snow day as hazardous conditions could continue into Thursday.

Fairfax County Public Schools will be closed Thursday, March 22 as hazardous conditions from the winter storm could continue into Thursday.
School offices and central offices will open two hours late (by 10 a.m.). Employees that have worked one or more years for FCPS can take unscheduled leave. School Age Child Care Centers will be closed. Cancelled activities include extracurricular activities, interscholastic contests, team practices, field trips, middle school after-school programs, professional learning and training courses, adult and community education classes, recreation programs and outside use by community groups. The school board business meeting will happen as scheduled.
The winter storm warning for Fairfax County will expire at 8 p.m. Wednesday, but roads could refreeze overnight and become slippery. VDOT crews will continue to clear roads through the night.

The cancellation means students will go back Friday for one school day before their March 26-30 spring break.
