Students in Betsy McArdle’s third grade class at Rolling Valley Elementary have been adopted by author Ginger Park as part of the Read Local 2020 Challenge presented by the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators of Maryland, Delaware, and West Virginia. Students are encouraged to read books by 25 local authors and fill out a passport to bring to specific local bookstores for a prize. Park, who is a Rolling Valley neighbor and author of The Royal Bee, The Freedom Trip, and Where on Earth is My Bagel?, is providing signed copies of her books for McArdle’s students and will be setting up a virtual author visit.
