NoVA Remains Steady As Coronavirus Cases Surge In Hampton Roads

Coronavirus cases remain steady in Northern Virginia as Hampton Roads deals with a surge in new cases. The Virginia Department of Health reported 613 additional cases Thursday, with 261, or 43 percent, of the cases in Hampton Roads. Northern Virginia reported 112 new cases Thursday.

DeVos Criticizes Fairfax Schools Reopening Plan; Leaders React

U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos had some criticism for Fairfax County Schools' virtual learning during the pandemic and reopening plan for the fall. Leaders from the school system, the largest in Virginia, responded in defense of the plan providing only virtual learning or a mix with two days of in-person learning.

School Board To Vote On T.C. Williams Renaming Process

When T.C. Williams opened in 1965, it was named for Thomas Chambliss Williams, the superintendent of Alexandria City Public Schools from the mid-1930s to 1963. Williams was known as an opponent of segregation and argued for keeping Black and white students in separate schools.
