Alexandria Eatery Offers Free Lunch For Federal Employees

Diya Indian Cuisine is offering the free lunch buffet during the government shutdown.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Diya Indian Cuisine, a family-owned restaurant that opened earlier in 2018, will have an offer to help federal employees during the government shutdown. The restaurant has a free lunch buffet available to federal government workers from Jan. 2-11.

The owners say in a statement, "We (Shyam Lama, Raj Tamang and Roger Lin) are immigrants to this great nation. We went to school, started family and businesses here. To us, the United States is sanctuary, land of opportunity and most importantly, our home. By offering the Diya Shutdown Special, we want to recognize the important work our public servants do everyday and give appreciation for their dedication."

The offer is good Mondays to Fridays 11 a.m.-1 p.m. To redeem, patrons must show a federal government employment ID. The offer does not include soft drinks or alcoholic drinks and is limited to the dine-in lunch buffet.
