Restaurants You'd Love To Bring Back In Alexandria
We asked readers the one restaurant they'd want to bring back. There were a few common responses.

When you talk with locals about restaurants they miss, there's usually at least one place they can name. We asked Old Town Alexandria Patch readers the one restaurant they'd like to bring back, and responses came in numbers.
At the time of publication, we've received nearly 40 responses covering Old Town and other areas of the city. Places mentioned by multiple people included Austin Grill, Overwood, Mango Mike's, Flying Fish and Geranio.

- Austin Grill: The longtime Tex-Mex spot at 801 King Street closed in 2016. The space was revamped as Hen Quarter, and a casual fried chicken pop-up just opened on the first floor.
- Mango Mike's: "Mango" Mike Anderson's beloved restaurant at 4580 Duke Street was known for its island vibe and "Mangorita" before it closed in 2013. The Homegrown Restaurant Group's other eateries are Sweet Fire Donna's Pork Barrel BBQ, Sushi Bar, Holy Cow and Whiskey & Oyster.
- Overwood: This popular restaurant served American fare at 220 North Lee Street until 2016 and was replaced by Myron Mixon's Pitmaster Barbecue in 2017. Overwood co-owners Joe Corey and Bill McFadden's other Alexandria restaurant is Faccia Luna Pizzeria.
- Geranio: The Italian eatery closed in 2018 after 42 years in business. It was located at 722 King Street.
- Flying Fish: The restaurant known for its sushi suddenly closed in 2015 at 815 King St Suite A.
- Generous George's: This pizza and pasta eatery closed in 2009 at 3006 Duke Street. The space has been slated for years to become Yates Pizza Palace.
- Monroe's: Known for its pizza, Monroe's operated from 1996 to late 2015 at 1603 Commonwealth Avenue. That location now hosts Live Oak Restaurant.
- Society Fair: The food emporium at 277 South Washington Street consisted of a gourmet food market, bistro, bakery butchery, demo kitchen and catering service. The closure in July 2019 followed a GoFundMe fundraiser to keep the business afloat.
- Eamonn's: Chef Cathal Armstrong's fish and chips restaurant Eamonn's closed in July 2019 along with Todd Thrasher's upstairs speakeasy PX. Two new concepts, The Handover and King's Ransom, just opened in the 728 King Street space.
- Fuddruckers: The fast casual chain closed its 4141 Duke Street location in 2013.
