📰 News we're reading

• US Virginia Peninsula Set for Powerful Tourism Surge as Poquoson Seafood Festival Boosts Yorktown, Hampton and More Coastal Destinations (travelandtourworld.com) — Poquoson's 44th Annual Seafood Festival is poised to draw big October crowds into the city and along its 87 miles of shoreline, boosting local restaurants, seafood businesses, and waterfront attractions. Organizers expect strong spillover to nearby Yorktown, Hampton, and Newport News, as visitors pair the festival with beaches, historic sites, and other fall events across the Virginia Peninsula.

• VB, Norfolk reservoirs short 'at least 17 inches' of rain as drought conditions persist (wavy.com) — Poquoson residents are being asked to voluntarily conserve water as regional reservoirs sit well below normal levels after a year of below-average rainfall. Along with neighboring cities and counties, the city is urging people to cut back on nonessential uses like car washing and half-full dishwashers so supplies remain stable and mandatory restrictions can be avoided.
