'Bonnie' Spivey (pcpatriot.com) — Pulaski residents are mourning Lavonne C. “Bonnie” Spivey, an 89-year-old longtime member of First Presbyterian Church in Pulaski who passed away at home on April 23. A graveside memorial service is set for 2 p.m. Friday, May 1, at Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin, with local funeral arrangements handled by Bower Funeral Home.

Two treated after lightning strike at Radford Army Ammunition Plant (wdbj7.com) — Emergency crews from Pulaski County were placed on standby after a lightning strike at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant caused a blackout and brief vapor release early Tuesday morning. Two security workers were taken for observation after possible fume exposure, and nearby residents may have heard shelter-in-place alarms, but Army officials say there is no current danger to surrounding communities.
