• Cross country teams have meets on Saturday (fincastleherald.com) — Randolph Park in Pulaski will host the James River cross country team this Saturday, bringing a popular high school meet right into your backyard. Coaches say the one-loop trail course through the park, ending with a steep hill, will test runners’ legs while showcasing competition from across Southwest Virginia.
   

• Blacksburg man convicted on gun charges (radfordnewsjournal.com) — A traffic stop by Town of Pulaski police and a Pulaski County Sheriff’s K9 unit led to a nine-year federal sentence for a Blacksburg man caught with guns and drugs. Officers discovered two firearms, including an assault-style pistol with suppressor, along with narcotics after he tried to flee on foot during the Pulaski stop.
   

• Former teacher honored with garden dedication (montcova.com) — A beloved former teacher who once taught at Pulaski High School is being honored with a new outdoor garden classroom at Eastern Montgomery High. Colleagues remember Holly King for her energy, compassion, and love of nature, and many of her students helped design and build the octagonal structure that now bears her name.
