The new layout reduces travel lanes, adds a center turn lane and bike lanes, and is now being evaluated as residents and businesses weigh safety gains against concerns about congestion.

Move Over, Honnold: Award-Winning Filmmaker Free Solos Roanoke's Iconic Star (outdoorsportswire.com) — A Roanoke filmmaker has released a playful short film documenting his permitted free-solo climb of the Mill Mountain Star, turning the city's iconic landmark into a tongue‑in‑cheek tribute to Roanoke. The two‑minute "Star Climb 101" spoofs Alex Honnold's skyscraper feats while showcasing greenways, coffee stops, jump lines, and the Star City's skyline, and is now streaming online for locals to watch.
