Pedestrian Killed In Hit-And-Run Crash In Springfield: Police (patch.com) — Residents in Springfield are being urged to come forward with any information after an adult man was fatally struck by a white SUV that fled the scene at Old Keene Mill Road and Backlick Road Sunday night. Fairfax County Police say the victim died at a local hospital and a crash reconstruction team is now investigating the hit-and-run. Anyone who may have seen the crash or the vehicle is asked to call 911.

Driver dies in hydroplaning crash on I-495 near Springfield Mixing Bowl (ffxnow.com) — A driver died after his SUV hydroplaned on I-495 near the Springfield Mixing Bowl early Saturday, highlighting how recent rain has made local roads more dangerous.
