• Ancient Persian epic, war in Iran inspires artist's new exhibit in Staunton (newsvirginian.com) — Staunton art lovers can explore "Twilight," a new exhibit at the Gallery at 7 Lawyers Row that connects an ancient Persian epic to modern questions of war, freedom, and moral ambiguity. Through paintings and animation, artist Niloofar Gholamrezaei invites visitors to reflect on the human cost of conflict and their own experiences; the show runs through Sept. 27 with weekend hours.
   

• Billy Jack's, Jack Brown's hosting suicide prevention fundraiser (whsv.com) — A regional suicide-prevention walk is coming to Staunton's Gypsy Hill Park on October 10, backed this week by a Harrisonburg restaurant fundraiser donating part of burger and chicken sales. The effort supports the Greater Shenandoah Valley–Charlottesville Out of the Darkness Walk and highlights local mental health resources, including the 988 crisis line for anyone in Staunton who may be struggling.
   

• Waynesboro Police determine new threat at Westwood Hills false (newsleader.com) — Families in the Staunton–Waynesboro area are being reassured after Waynesboro Police determined a new threat against Westwood Hills Elementary was false, following a weekend-long investigation with other agencies. The school remains closed as the community recovers from last week's shooting, and the Waynesboro School Board will discuss the incident at its regular meeting tonight while police maintain an increased presence around local schools.
