• Tazewell County Sheriff warns of new scam (wvva.com) — Tazewell County residents are being warned about scam callers pretending to be law enforcement and demanding immediate payment for supposedly missing jury duty. Sheriff Brian Hieatt stresses that officers never call to ask for money or threaten warrants, and urges anyone contacted to hang up and independently call local law enforcement before sharing any personal or financial information. 
• ‘We've got a crisis,' says lawmaker with one-third of Virginia's rural hospitals at risk of closing (wavy.com) — Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital is listed among seven Virginia rural hospitals at highest risk of closure or severe financial distress, raising serious concerns about local access to care. A new state report warns that rural hospital cuts and closures, driven by high costs and limited revenue, could force Tazewell-area patients to travel much farther for emergency and inpatient services.
