5 Things To Do With Family Over Christmas In Vienna

VIENNA, VA—Are you hosting family this Christmas? In between Christmas Day, your relatives may be pining to get out. Luckily there are a number of ways keep family entertained around Vienna.

While not everything is open during the long holiday weekend, there are some activities and sights open in the days surrounding Christmas.

Here are five events to enjoy during Christmas:

1. Walk through the Winter Walk of Lights

Every year the Meadowlark Botanical Gardens are transformed into a half-mile walk of lights. It is open every day until Jan. 7, 2018, including on Christmas Eve and Day.

2. Check out other light displays around the area.

Your neighbors can boast some pretty dazzling lights too. Get the whole family in the car for a trip to see the best lights around Northern Virginia with this handy guide.

3. Attend a concert or performance

A few performances are scheduled for the days surrounding Christmas at Jammin Java. Grab drink for the 15-year tradition at the Mini-Clauster Family Holiday Happy Hour on Dec. 23 or reminisce about the 90s with Blink 182, Weezer and Green Day tribute bands on Dec. 26.

4. Try an open mic at the local cafe

Caffe Amouri hosts regular open mic musical performances, and there's one right before the holidays on Dec. 23 from 7 p.m.-9:45 p.m.

5. Visit Wolf Trap

With the performance season done for the year, visitors can enjoy the park for free everyday from 7 a.m. to dusk except Christmas Day and New Year's Day. The park has some beautiful nature trails if you're looking to get some fresh air over the holiday.
