Fairfax County 2025 Budget Town Hall Planned In Vienna
With a 4-cent real estate tax hike proposed in the Fairfax County budget, an upcoming town hall will be held at Patrick Henry Library.

VIENNA, VA — After a county budget with a 4-cent real estate tax hike was proposed by Fairfax County Executive Bryan Hill, budget town halls will be held in the Hunter Mill District, which includes the Town of Vienna.
The fiscal year 2025 Budget proposal calls for a 4-cent increase to the real estate rate, making the rate $1.135 per $100 of assessed value. This would increase the average household tax bill by $524 next year if adopted. The Board of Supervisors will vote on an advertised tax rate, the highest rate that can be adopted in the budget, on March 5. The final budget and tax rates will be adopted on May 7.
Town of Vienna residents pay the Fairfax County real estate tax in addition to the smaller Town of Vienna tax. Residential real estate property values are up an average 2.86 percent across the county. The average price of all home types is $744,526. In the Hunter Mill District, property increases are up by an average 3.33 percent.

The proposed budget takes into account a projected $284.5 million shortfall due to flattening of the real estate market, global impacts on the local economy, pending collective bargaining agreements, continuing efforts to increase pay and benefits for county employees, and support for Metro. Hill's budget proposal includes $165 million toward the Fairfax County Public Schools' operating fund, which is about $89 million less than Superintendent Michelle Reid's proposed county transfer request. Reid's request is the largest percentage increase request from FCPS since fiscal year 2007.
