Widespread power outages were the result of the nor'easter that brought strong winds to Fairfax County overnight Thursday into Friday. Wind gusts as high as 60 and 70 mph were recorded over Northern Virginia, knocking down trees, power lines and other debris and leaving hundreds of thousands without power in Fairfax County. Schools had been closed Friday, March 2 due to the dangerous wind conditions.
