Unlocked Car Thefts Continue In Vienna
After a string of car thefts were reported last week in Vienna, more incidents involving unlocked cars happened this week.

VIENNA, VA—After seven car break-ins were reported the previous week in Vienna, police collected four more reports.
At least three of the four involved unlocked cars and all happened overnight. One involved a stolen credit card, resulting in fraudulent purchases.

Suspicious Event 17-007179
1100 Block Ware Street, SW
Between August 7 9:00 p.m. and August 8 9:15 p.m.
A citizen reported that someone entered his unlocked vehicle and rummaged through it.
500 Block Marshall Road, SW
August 8 between 12:00 a.m. and 6:34 a.m.
A citizen reported that someone entered his vehicles and rummaged through them.

300 Block Holmes Drive, NW
Between August 11 10:00 p.m. and August 12 7:30 a.m.
A citizen reported that someone entered his unlocked vehicles, rummaged through them and
stole some property. The following day there was a fraudulent charge on a stolen credit card.
600 Block John Marshall Drive, NW
Between August 11 10:00 p.m. and August 12 7:30 a.m.
A citizen reported that someone entered his unlocked vehicle, rummaged through the vehicle and
stole some property.
In a statement released last week, police urged residents to take precautions: "There has been an increase in larcenies from vehicles in recent weeks. Please remember to remove all valuables from unattended vehicles and most importantly, lock the vehicle doors."

600 Block Thelma Circle, SW
August 15 between 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.
A resident reported that someone opened a line of credit under his name without his knowledge
or consent.
100 Block Patrick Street, SE
August 15 5:30 p.m.
Officers were dispatched to a possible assault. Officers spoke to the involved subjects and were
not able to corroborate that an assault had taken place. An ambulance was called to the scene
however the subject refused to go to the hospital.
