Williamsburg council authorizes $32M plan for new 50,000-square-foot library (wavy.com) — Williamsburg City Council has approved a $32 million agreement to replace the downtown Scotland Street library with a new 50,000‑square‑foot facility, financed through a mix of capital transfers and bonds. Construction is expected to finish in summer 2028, with the first $15 million bond vote set for Oct. 8, reshaping how local residents access library services for years to come. 
2. Owens & Minor subsidiary to lay off 419 employees (virginiabusiness.com) — Hundreds of local families will feel the impact as Avid Medical, an Owens & Minor subsidiary, closes its Toano "Williamsburg site," cutting 419 jobs starting in late November. James City County officials and workforce partners are already coordinating help, saying other area employers are hiring and may offer options for displaced workers.

No. 8 Men's Golf Sits T-12th at NCAA Preview Following 36 Holes (generalssports.com) — A major NCAA Division III men's golf preview is underway at Kingsmill Resort's River Course in Williamsburg, where Washington and Lee sits tied for 12th after 36 holes. Local fans can watch standout Jonathan McEwen share the individual lead at eight-under as teams return for the final round Tuesday morning.
4. Meet Lila Bradley: The 8-year-old battling a rare cancer (wtvr.com) — An 8‑year‑old Williamsburg girl, Lila Bradley, has spent the past 10 months traveling weekly with her family to Richmond for chemotherapy to treat a rare, aggressive cancer. Now easing back into school and swimming, her family and doctors are using her story to highlight the realities of childhood cancer and the need for more research and community support.
