• WPS Gets $400K Grant to Launch LEAP Literacy Program (thewinchestergazette.com) — Winchester Public Schools has secured a $400,000 state grant to launch the LEAP literacy program at Virginia Avenue Charlotte DeHart Elementary, targeting about 150 students in grades 2–4. Starting January 2027, the extended-day and Saturday sessions will focus on reading skills, family literacy activities, teacher training, and transportation support to help economically disadvantaged students and English learners succeed.
   

• Shenandoah set for first-ever matchup against Case Western Reserve (nvdaily.com) — Shenandoah University's football team, based in Winchester, is heading to Cleveland on Saturday for its first-ever matchup against Case Western Reserve after a dominant 2-0 start. Coach Scott Yoder expects the Spartans to be the Hornets' toughest early-season test, highlighting their efficient quarterback and aggressive defense while stressing the need for a more balanced rushing attack.
   

• SU Joins FAA Program to Fast-Track Air Traffic Controllers (thewinchestergazette.com) — Shenandoah University in Winchester has joined an FAA program that lets qualifying air traffic control students skip the FAA Academy and move straight into on-site training. The new pathway, highlighted by Winchester Regional Airport, could draw more aviation-minded students to the area and connect local graduates directly with FAA tower jobs after meeting strict testing and safety requirements.
