Winchester Fire Department gets exclusive grant (rivercountynews.com) — Winchester firefighters have upgraded their breathing equipment thanks to a $10,000 State Farm safety grant, matched by another $10,000 from the city. The department has already put 14 lighter, safer air pack bottles into service, easing the burden on local taxpayers while improving response in serious crashes and fires across this rural community.
   

2. Selah Theatre Project Opens New Winchester Home With 'Clue' (royalexaminer.com) — Winchester's Selah Theatre Project is finally opening a permanent home downtown at the Vivienne L. Jackson Sanctuary for the Arts on North Braddock Street. The nonprofit will christen the new space with the comedy-mystery "Clue" over two October weekends, inviting local audiences and arts groups to help turn the former church into a lively community performance hub.
   

3. Recovery Court Marks a Decade of "Second Chances" (thewinchestergazette.com) — Winchester's Northwest Regional Adult Recovery Court has marked 10 years of helping residents address addiction through accountability and treatment, celebrating its anniversary with local leaders, graduates, and award honorees. The program, launched amid the opioid crisis, has expanded to neighboring counties and now includes a behavioral health docket, offering more structured second chances for people in the regional justice system.
   

4. Rotary Donates $20,566 to Blue Ridge Care Veterans (thewinchestergazette.com) — Winchester residents helped raise more than $20,000 through this year's Healing Field of Honor, and the Winchester Rotary has now donated the proceeds to Blue Ridge Care's Veterans Program. The Winchester-based hospice says the funds will bolster specialized care, recognition, and support for veterans and their families across the community, and is encouraging locals to stay involved as volunteers and supporters.
   

5. Fort Collier to host living history Civil War encampment this weekend (augustafreepress.com) — This weekend, Fort Collier just outside Winchester will host a living history Civil War encampment marking the Third Battle of Winchester, with reenacted skirmishes, maneuvers, and guided battlefield tours. The open house also celebrates 25 years of the Fort Collier Civil War Center, offering residents a close-to-home way to explore local history.
