• Finalists in West Virginia Scholar Program announced (wvmetronews.com) — A Chapmanville Regional High School student, Megan Brown, has been named one of 15 statewide finalists for the prestigious West Virginia Scholar Program, which awards a full-ride scholarship to West Virginia Wesleyan College. Online voting runs June 5–14, with the winner announced June 17. This recognition puts Chapmanville firmly on the map in a major academic competition. 
• Two arrested following vehicle pursuit in Logan County, W.Va. troopers say (wchstv.com) — A Logan County traffic stop turned into a vehicle pursuit that ended with two men facing multiple charges, including one passenger identified as being from Chapmanville. State Police say the driver allegedly fled troopers before stopping, while the Chapmanville man reportedly ran on foot before being apprehended. Both were taken to Southwestern Regional Jail as the investigation continues.
