• Fall fire season prepares to kick off in West Virginia (wvnstv.com) — Starting October 1, Ghent residents must follow West Virginia's fall fire season rules, which ban most outdoor burning between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. You can only burn approved vegetative materials at night with a 10-foot cleared safety strip, must watch fires constantly, and can face significant fines and liability if a blaze escapes control.
