Albany School District Appoints New High School, Middle School Administrators

Albany High School Principal Appointed: Jeff Anderson

After a rigorous interview process, the Board of Education appointed the next Albany High School Principal at the May 26, 2015 Board of Education meeting. Meet and greet opportunities will be scheduled and advertised by Albany High School.

Jeff Anderson graduated locally from Benicia High School and received his undergraduate degree from U.C. Santa Cruz in 1983. He obtained his Teaching Diploma from Cal-State East Bay in 1985 and his Masters in Educational Leadership in 2000 from Sonoma State.

Mr. Anderson began teaching Social Studies at Sonoma High School in 1986 and taught there for nine years. The highlights of his career there were establishing an Academic Decathlon team and an AP U.S. History course. Jeff began his administrative career at Napa High School in 1995 as the Dean of Students and then moved to Curriculum and Instruction.

In 2000 Jeff and his family moved to New York City and then Westchester County in NY. While on the East coast, Jeff served one year as Assistant Principal at Hunter College High School as well as three years at Mamaroneck High. He returned to California in 2005 as the Principal for Saratoga High School and served there for seven years. While there he supervised a successful WASC self-study in 2007 and secured a Distinguished School designation in 2009. In addition, Jeff successfully implemented a block schedule, open access to AP classes and a Media Arts Academy.

Since 2012, Jeff has been the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction and Human Resources in the Los Gatos/Saratoga High School District where he supervised the initial implementation of Common Core and the CANVAS Learning Management System.

Mr. Anderson is a firm believer in facilitating the success of all students and staff. He believes in a collaborative approach to school governance that respects diverse voices and opinions. His leadership style is based on hard work, respect, common courtesy and collaborative empowerment of others. He is excited about getting back to a High School site. He derives energy from staff helping students create great memories and prepare for the next phase of their lives.

Jeff has two daughters. Olivia will be a sophomore at Arizona State and Sonia is going into sixth grade. He is an avid Giants fan. In his spare time, Jeff enjoys cooking with his kids, basketball and reading about history. He is excited about returning to the Bay Area.

Albany Middle School Vice Principal Appointed: David Haupert

After a rigorous interview process, the Board of Education appointed the next Albany Middle School Vice Principal at the May 26, 2015 Board of Education meeting. Meet and greet opportunities will be scheduled and advertised by Albany Middle School.

David Haupert began his career in education as a teacher of English in Spain and France. He is currently a Spanish teacher and department chair at Pleasant Hill Middle School. He is also on the principal’s leadership team and is a faculty senate representative.

David holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History with a minor in Spanish and will receive his Masters Degree in Educational Leadership in August.

David’s philosophy is to ensure that all students acquire the academic and social skills to be successful in their professional and personal lives. He believes that students learn best when engaged in collaborative and creative work that requires them to develop their communicative and creative thinking skills.

In his spare time, David enjoys playing Ultimate Frisbee, running, exploring the Bay Area and playing bluegrass guitar. He also will be spending time with his daughter who was born in December.
