HERMOSA BEACH, CA – The South Bay had a pretty busy week. Election night was Tuesday – Rolling Hills Estates voted for a new City Council member and Manhattan Beach voted on Measure MB, a $2.6 million annual parcel tax expected to keep the local school district afloat.

One Redondo Beach woman was keeping a big secret. She won $41,000 on "The Price is Right," but couldn't tell anyone until the episode aired.

Also in Redondo Beach, costs are piling up for a family trying to save their dog with cancer. Lola had her leg amputated, but now her family has more than $10,000 in vet bills and is asking the community for help.

For the kids and kids at heart, a Fairies vs. Trolls Scavenger Hunt is coming to the South Coast Botanic Gardens, where visitors will search for the Merry Fairy Trollstone. Costumes are encouraged, and it sounds like a blast!

In other news, a real estate developer from Palos Verdes Estates pleaded not guilty to laundering campaign money. He allegedly used straw donors to channel tens of thousands of dollars to more than a six local politicians' campaigns.

One woman is lucky to be alive this week after falling 150 feet off of a Palos Verdes cliff. Manhattan Beach is also conducting a DUI Checkpoint this weekend, so be on the lookout for that and plan ahead.

The family of Jerry Maren, the last surviving "Wizard of Oz" munchkin, announced his death this week. He was 98.

A rover found organic molecules on Mars, which could mean there's life on the Red Planet, but nothing is for certain. NASA did say that organic molecules contain elements that are commonly associated with life, like carbon, hydrogen, and others.

If the South Bay beaches have been looking a little cleaner, it could be thanks to the drought. Yup, a new report from Heal the Bay said the Southland's recent drought-like conditions have actually improved beach water quality.
