Took a break from the news this weekend? Worry not. We've rounded up some of the stories you missed in SoCal this holiday weekend.

SAN DIEGO, CA — As we head into the new work week, we've rounded up the stories you may have missed Saturday through Monday to prepare you for the week ahead.

But before we jump into Southern California's top stories, residents should expect periods of rain, wind and mountain snow through the week, according to the National Weather Service.

"There is a slight chance of thunderstorms through early Tuesday morning. Scattered showers will continue into Tuesday with strengthening west winds along the mountain crests and desert slopes, which peak Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning," NWS San Diego forecasters wrote Monday.

"A second round of rain and lower elevation mountain snow is expected late Tuesday into Wednesday. Cool with decreasing chances for showers for Thursday through Saturday. Chances of precipitation increase again into early next week."

In other news, an armed man was arrested after a multi-freeway police pursuit; an armed robber was arrested after stealing a horse and prompting an hours-long standoff; a dormitory fire at the UC Riverside campus forced the evacuation of 147 students and displaced about 20; a man was accused of fatally stabbing his stepfather; and a woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her estranged spouse.

Also, a police department asked students to stay in school during a wave of anti-ICE walkouts.

Plus, more than 31,000 Kaiser Permanente health care workers remained on strike Monday as the open-ended walkout entered its fourth week, disrupting patient appointments, surgeries and treatments across California and Hawaii. The strike, which started Jan. 26, is an effort by one of the organization's largest unions to improve wages and staffing conditions.
