Sea Lion Pup Rescued From San Francisco Highway

Police officers and rescuers from the Marine Mammal Center rounded up the little guy, who's been nicknamed "Kyle."

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A sea lion pup is now in the care of the Marine Mammal Center. The small mammal was rescued after it was found in the median of the Great Highway in San Francisco's Sunset District Monday morning.

Police received the call around 9:15 a.m. Officers kept an eye on the little guy and protected him from traffic
until rescuers could arrive on scene.

The center took the sea lion to its Marin Headlands hospital and is keeping it in an intensive care pen out of precaution. However officials said the animal, which is being tube fed until it is healthy and hydrated enough to eat fish, has no visible injuries and appears active and alert.
