Youngest Victim of Oakland Warehouse Fire Was 17-Year-Old San Francisco Student

Draven McGill Was a student at Ruth Asawa School of the Arts.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Draven McGill, a 17-year-old student at Ruth Asawa School of the Arts in San Francisco, has been identified as a victim of the Oakland warehouse fire by the school's principal.

Principal Barnaby Payne revealed McGill's name in a letter to parents, pledging support to the victim's family and to all students hit by the grieving process.

McGill is one of 36 people known to have died in the fire Friday night, during an illegal electronic music event.

Alameda County Sheriff Greg Ahern said Monday that 33 of the 36 victims have been identified. However, just seven names have been officially released by the coroner's bureau. McGill makes eight.

The warehouse fire is now the deadliest in Oakland's history. District Attorney Nancy O'Malley has opened a criminal investigation into the fire. She said charges could include murder.
