I-580 Reopens Following Shooting
Traffic was backed up for miles, and cars stuck on the freeway near the shooting had to turn around and go down the on-ramps.
OAKLAND, CA — Interstate Highway 580 has reopened more than two hours after a man and woman were shot on eastbound Interstate Highway 580 in Oakland, police and California Highway Patrol officials said.
The shooting was reported at 3:17 p.m. near the Fruitvale Avenue off-ramp from Highway 580, Oakland police said. Both the man and woman were found suffering gunshot wounds and taken to a hospital in stable condition.

CHP officials said as of about 5:30 p.m. that the highway had reopened, but the Fruitvale off-ramp remained closed and the long closure caused severe traffic delays in the area.
