Union City Triple Shooting Over Drugs: Police

The shooting Monday night left one man dead and two other victims injured. Mugshots of the 3 suspects released. (Breaking)

UNION CITY, CA — A triple shooting Monday night in the Texas Roadhouse parking lot at Union Landing was a drug deal gone bad, according to Union City Police Detectives.

Investigators say two groups arranged to meet. Before it was all over, one was dead and two were injured.

Sajeel Rehman, 21, of Fremont, was killed.

Police say Rehman drove a "black Lexus to the parking lot while accompanied by two additional men. They parked near the suspect vehicle, a grey Dodge pickup truck occupied by the three suspects. The suspects have been identified as Travis Vales, a 24 year-old male from Clayton, Alvin Simao, a 47 year- old male from Hayward, and Stevi Simao an 18 year old male from Hayward. During the transaction, a struggle ensued between the two groups. Vales fired multiple shots from a high powered rifle into the black Lexus killing Rehman, injuring a front passenger, and striking another victim who was parked nearby."

Following the shooting, the suspects took off but were stopped by officers a short distance away, police report. They were arrested without incident.

Rehman was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two victims are still hospitalized in serious condition.

The case was forwarded to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office and charges have been filed against all three suspects for murder, two counts of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, possession of an assault weapon, robbery, and multiple other weapons charges.
