Danbury 2018 Year in Review, or, 'What Just Happened?'

We lost our last strip club, but got Uncle Sam back. Circle of Life...

DANBURY, CT — There is no such thing as a "typical" anything in Danbury, let alone a typical year. A quick perusal of last year's biggest Danbury headlines certainly bears that out.

In 2018 Danbury Patch headlines were made by old-fashioned gangsters, some really old-fashioned hanky panky, and the type of post-modern conflux of events (when a Danbury couple's TV game show debut was pulled from airing following a pop star's reported drug overdose) you're more likely to find in a William Gibson novel.

The summer in Danbury was marked by mild temperatures -- unless you were a drug dealer or an undocumented immigrant, in which case it was the hottest on record. The Danbury PD and ICE turned up the burners while the ACLU balked, and social media toasted up some popcorn and cheered both sides on.

Danbury 2018 had its share of death and destruction, but Hat City also bore witness to uncommon heroism, a mysterious good Samaritan, and some Hallmark movie-style community-rallying. There was even at least one legit medical marvel.
