NEW CANAAN, CT — In a handwritten letter to Hearst Media, Michelle Troconis, who was convicted in the disappearance and death of Jennifer Farber Dulos, says that her conviction was a "miscarriage of justice," the Connecticut Post, a Hearst publication, reported.

Troconis is serving 14 and a half years in prison at York Correctional Institution in Niantic, and she wrote to an unnamed editor at Hearst that as she prepares to appeal her case, she is "exploring every possible avenue to advocate for [her] innocence & ensure justice is served."

Hearst confirmed the authenticity of the letter through her attorney, Jon Schoenhorn.

Last month, Troconis' family released a similar letter to the media that proclaimed her innocence.

Troconis was convicted in March on all counts in the case. She had been accused of conspiring with the late Fotis Dulos in the murder of Jennifer Dulos, Fotis' estranged wife.

Jennifer Dulos, a 50-year-old mother of five, vanished from her New Canaan home on May 24, 2019, and her body has not been found. Bloody evidence pointed to Dulos meeting a violent end, and Fotis Dulos was charged with kidnapping and murder.

Fotis Dulos never stood trial, because he died after a suicide attempt in January 2020. The Duloses were in the midst of a contentious divorce and child custody fight at the time of Jennifer's disappearance, and Troconis was Fotis' girlfriend at the time.

Jennifer Dulos was declared dead by a probate judge more than four years after disappearance.

Also last month, Troconis filed for a public defender to work on her appeal, because she is indigent, and "cannot pay the fees, costs and expenses of an appeal," the Hartford Courant reported.
