NEW CANAAN, CT — A report dated April 1 from the Office of Correction Ombuds found that a pre-visit strip search of Michelle Troconis at York Correctional Institution in Niantic was unauthorized, WTNH-TV reported.

According to the report, Troconis, convicted in 2024 in the disappearance and death of Jennifer Farber Dulos, was incarcerated at the facility on May 5, 2025, when she went to the visiting center for a scheduled contact visit and was searched before the visit.

The report stated, "The strip search conducted in this matter was inconsistent with Administrative Directive 6.7. The record reflects that no reasonable suspicion was documented, the stated justification does not meet the threshold required under Department policy, and required procedural safeguards were not followed."

WTNH reported that the ombuds investigation said the issue stemmed from delayed radio communication by main control, not Troconis' conduct.

Jennifer Dulos vanished from her New Canaan home on May 24, 2019, and is presumed to be dead. Her remains have not been found.

Jennifer's estranged husband, the late Fotis Dulos, was arrested on charges of kidnapping and murder in connection with the case, but he never stood trial. He died in late January 2020 after a suicide attempt.

Troconis is serving a 14-and-a-half-year sentence in the case.
