North Haven Election Results 2019: Vote Totals For Every Race

North Haven residents went to the polls to vote for candidates for board of selectmen, board of education, board of finance and more.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — North Haven Republicans retained control of town government in Tuesday’s election. First Selectman Michael Freda, who ran unopposed, was elected to a sixth term in office. He received 4,789 votes, according to unofficial results from the secretary of state’s office. Democrat Sally Buemi received 1,896 votes and Pieper had 3,473.

In perhaps the most contested race of the night, incumbent Peter J. Criscuolo Jr.’s bid to retain his seat on the Fire Commission as a write-in candidate fell short. Republican Mary Jane Mulligan received 2,160 votes and Jennifer Caldwell, who defeated Criscuolo in the Democratic primary, had 1,647 votes. Criscuolo collected 1,309 votes.

Republican Eleni Diakogeorgiou was elected to the Board of Education, along with incumbents Anita Anderson, also a Republican, and Democrat Jennifer Cecarelli.

Anderson received 3,373 votes, Diakogeorgiou had 3,231 and Cecarelli collected 2,210 votes. Democrat Frederick Rodriquez received 1,746.

Republicans Richard Monico and Timothy M. Doheny, both incumbents, were elected to the Board of Finance, along with Democrat Nancy Barrett. Doheny received 3,538 votes, Monico had 3,455 and Barrett finished with 1,906. Democrat Patricia A. Brown received 1,750 votes.

Incumbent Republican J. Stacey Yarbrough defeated Democratic challenger Kathy A. Spinato-Grant 3,732 to 1,652 for Town Clerk and Tax Collector.

Republican Laurie-Jean Hannon defeated Democrat Stephen L. Gifford for Town Treasurer 3,722 to 1,650.

(Original post) NORTH HAVEN, CT — The votes are being counted as North Haven residents wait to see who has been elected to the board of selectmen, board of education and board of finance. Additionally, there were elections for town clerk and tax collector, town treasurer, board of assessment appeals, planning and zoning commission, zoning board of appeals, police commission and fire commission.

Longtime incumbent Republican First Selectman Michael Freda ran unopposed, while residents also voted for one Selectman candidate. Sally Buemi was the Democratic candidate and William Pieper was the Republican candidate.

For Town Clerk and Tax Collector, residents voted for one candidate. Kathy A. Spinato-Grant was the Democratic candidate and J. Stacey Yarbrough was the Republican candidate.

For Town Treasurer, residents voted for one candidate. Stephen L. Gifford was the Democratic candidate and Laurie-Jean Hannon was the Republican candidate.

For Board of Finance, residents voted for any two candidates. The Democratic candidates were Nancy Barrett and Patricia Ann Brown. The Republican candidates were Richard Monico and Timothy M. Doheny.

For Board of Education, residents voted for any two candidates. The Democratic candidates were Frederick C. Rodriguez and Jennifer Cecarelli. The Republican candidates were Eleni Diakogeorgiou and Anita Anderson.

For Board of Assessment Appeals, residents voted for any two candidates. Danielle Morfi was the Democratic candidate and the Republican candidates were Jane M. Andrews and Michael E. Fletcher.

For Planning and Zoning Commission, residents voted for any two candidates. James J. Giulietti was the Democratic candidate and the Republican candidates were E. Richard Wilson and Brian R. Cummings.

For Zoning Board of Appeals, residents voted for one candidate. The Democratic candidate was Albert Wambolt and Donald F. Clark was the Republican candidate. Residents also voted on two candidates for Zoning Board of Appeals Alternates. Kenneth M. Quick was the Democratic candidate and the Republican candidates were Carolyn A. Yaccarino and Andrew P. Gorry.

For Police Commissioners, residents voted for one candidate. Marc J. Calafiore was the Democratic candidate and the Republican candidate was Robin D. Wilson.

For Fire Commissioners, residents voted for one candidate. Jennifer A. Caldwell was the Democratic candidate and the Republican candidate was Mary Jane Mulligan. Peter J. Criscuolo was running as a Write-In candidate.
