Norwalk Election Results: Rilling 'Honored' To Declare Victory
Incumbent Harry Rilling has declared victory over challenger Jonathan Riddle in Norwalk's mayoral race, according to unofficial results.

NORWALK, CT — Democratic Mayor Harry Rilling declared victory over Republican challenger Jonathan Riddle around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday night.
Campaign spokesperson Adam Wood said Rilling had likely received over 60 percent of the vote in his race, according to unofficial vote totals.
Speaking by phone Tuesday night, Rilling said he was "honored" and "so privileged" to be able to serve the city for another term.

"We've been working really hard on behalf of the city of Norwalk," Rilling said to Patch. "People look at Norwalk as a new city, a city on the move, and they're starting to take notice of Norwalk, and it's because of the team we have that is working hard together to make sure that we keep moving in the right direction."

Rilling also said he was "proud, honored and humbled" to have been selected to lead the city for a fifth term.
"I don't feel that I'm entitled to this job," Rilling said. "I feel I have to earn it every day. I have to earn this job, because if I don't earn the job, if I don't do the right things, if I don't make things move forward, they're going to fire me, and that's why you have elections."
Incumbent Richard McQuaid ran unopposed for the position of town clerk and will be re-elected to his position.
Results had not be released in a number of other local races as of midnight.
For the position of city treasurer, it's Democrat Joseph Tamburri versus Republican Jerry Petrini. The candidates for city sheriff are Democrat Robert Burgess, Republican Ron Paladino and Independent Joseph Madaffari.
The Democratic candidates for Councilman-At-Large are Dominique Johnson, Josh Goldstein, Barbara Smyth, Nora Niedzielski- Eichner and Greg Burnett Sr. The Republican candidates are Enrique Santiago, Matthew Merluzzi and Richard J. Bonenfant. Lisa Brinton is running as an Independent candidate.
For selectmen, the Democratic candidates are Andy Garfunkel and Samuel Pride, the Republican candidates are Kathryn Martino and Shannon O'Toole Giandurco, and the Independent candidates are Denise Chicatell Brown and Jo A. Bennett.
For the Board of Education, the Democratic candidates are Kara Baekey, Sheri McCready-Brown, Janine Randolph and Colin Hosten. The Independent candidates are Shirley Mosby, Alexandra Kemeny, Jody Sattler and Katherine Price Snedaker.
For the position of constable, the Democratic candidates are Beth Siegelbaum, Ernest Dumas, Jalin Tyrell Sead and Johnnie Mae Weldon. The Republican candidates are Frank Mauro, Peter Bondi, John Romano Sr. and Ray Cooke. Erik Anderson and Jeff Mark Rollings are the Independent candidates.
District A
In District A, the Democratic candidates for councilman are Nicol Demae Ayers and David Heuvelman. The Republican candidate is Luis Estrella, and Christopher Andres Morales is an Independent candidate.
For the position of First Taxing District Commissioner, Democratic candidate Elsa Peterson Obuchowski is running against Republican candidate Karen Doyle Lyons.
For First Taxing District Treasurer, it's Democrat Rosa Murray versus Republican John Miller.
District B
In District B, the candidates for councilman are Democrats Darlene Young and Diana Revolus.
The candidates for the position of Second Taxing District Commissioner are Democrats Mary Mann and Sandra Stokes. For Second Taxing District Treasurer, Darlene Young is running unopposed.
District C
In District C, the Democratic candidates for councilman are Democrats Jenn McMurrer and John Kydes, Republican Read Auerbach and Independent Anthony Scott Goodwin.
The candidates for the position of Third Taxing District Commissioner are Democrat Johnnie Mae Weldon and Republican Suzanne Buffone. For Third Taxing District Treasurer, Auerbach is running unopposed.
District D
In District D, the Democratic candidates for councilman are Diane Jellerette and Heidi Alterman. Republican candidate Tom Keegan and Independent candidate Heather Dunn are also running for the position.
District E
In District E, the Democratic candidates for councilman are Lisa Shanahan and Thomas Livingston. Republican candidate Andrew Anello and Independent candidate Heatherlyn Coats Schneider are also running for the position.
The candidates for the position of Sixth Taxing District Commissioner are Democrat Priscilla Feral and Independent Andrew Meyerson. For Sixth Taxing District Treasurer, Republican Gilbert Kernan is running unopposed.
