5 New Coronavirus Deaths In DC; Total Positive Cases Top 2,100
D.C. Health officials confirmed five new deaths caused by the coronavirus, bringing the total number in the District to 72.

WASHINGTON, DC —The D.C. Department of Health confirmed 5 new deaths Wednesday related to the coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, bringing the total number of District deaths caused by the virus to 72. D.C. Health also confirmed 139 new positive cases of the coronavirus, bringing the total number of positive cases in the District to 2,197.
To date, the District has conducted 11,525 coronavirus tests and 530 people have recovered.

- 45-year-old female
- 69-year-old female
- 72-year-old male
- 92-year-old male
- 93-year-old female
Sixty-seven members of the D.C. Fire and EMS have tested positive for COVID-19, according to D.C. Health. Of those who tested positive, 37 are in self-quarantine and 30 have returned to work. A total of 100 fire personnel are currently in self-quarantine due to COVID-19.
Fifty-nine members of the Metropolitan Police Department have tested positive for COVID-19. Of those who tested positive, 52 are in self-quarantine and seven have returned to work. The total of number of sworn personnel who are in quarantine due to the coronavirus is 169 and a total of 489 have returned to work.
