The opening line of that report by left-leaning CNN said this: “With barely a month to go before the US presidential election, a trifecta of economic shocks is threatening to sap Vice President Kamala Harris’ momentum on voters’ No. 1 issue: a port strike, a hurricane and an escalation of fighting in the Middle East.”
That CNN report continued: “None of these developments are good news for the US economy, which, while strong on many levels, is in a bit of an awkward phase.

But all of them offer political ammunition to Republicans trying to cast the vice president as part of a failed administration that has left American consumers hobbled by years of high prices (while conveniently ignoring three-plus years of relentless job growth and consumer spending).
Former President Donald Trump hasn’t wasted any time trying to pin the sense of chaos on his rival…”

FEMA runs out of money for Helene while spending hundreds of millions on migrants
- By Casey Harper | The Center Square
(The Center Square) – Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas told reporters Wednesday that FEMA does not have enough funding to last the rest of the year even as it has spent hundreds of millions of dollars on migrants under the Biden administration and more hurricanes could be on the way.
DHS oversees FEMA, putting Mayorkas in charge of the emergency relief agency which has recently been focused on helping migrants settle in the U.S.
“We are meeting the immediate needs with the money that we have,” Mayorkas told reporters. “We are expecting another hurricane hitting. FEMA does not have the funds to make it through the season.”
The startling admission by Mayorkas comes as FEMA grapples with the widespread damage of Hurricane Helene, A Category 4 hurricane that ripped through the southeast costing billions of dollars, causing widespread infrastructure damage, food shortages, and more than 100 deaths. Many are still unaccounted for as well.
President Joe Biden said earlier this week he may call on Congress to pass more funding for FEMA.
In April of this year, FEMA announced $640 million in new funding, $300 million for “direct funding” to help immigrants settle in the U.S. while the other $340 million went to cities via grants for the same purpose.
“Last year, more than $780 million was awarded through SSP and the Emergency Food and Shelter Program – Humanitarian Awards, which went to organizations and cities across the country,” FEMA said in its release.
While funding is allocated by Congress and money can be flexibly funneled through FEMA from other internal sources, Mayorkas’ comments still show that FEMA’s resources have been focused on migrants while it was left unprepared for this deadly hurricane season.
Illegal immigration has soared under the Biden-Harris administration with millions of migrants entering the U.S. and overwhelming the federal government’s ability to process them, let alone catch the millions of illegal immigrants crossing the southern border.
At least 12 million illegal immigrants have entered the U.S. under the Biden-Harris administration, though many experts estimate the figure is actually much higher.
Hurricane season is expected to go through the end of November. ##
Part II – Additional Information with Analysis
According to left-leaning Wikipedia, a polycrisis is described as follows: “The term polycrisis, also referred to as a metacrisis or permacrisis, describes a complex situation where multiple, interconnected crises converge and amplify each other…” BlackRock's CEO Larry Find and the World Economic Forum (WEF) have used the polycrisis description for the U.S., investors, and much of the world face.
For newcomers and returning readers, let me explain that while these are properly labeled as op-eds, you will find evidence to support the statement so readers can double check information for themselves. Anyone can have an opinion. But fact and reason-backed views, as is provided in this article and others being shared here on the Patch, can have enduring value in helping people who yearn for solid answers to valid questions on hot topics.
Flashback to the final months of the President Jimmy Carter (D) and Vice President Walter F. Mondale (D) administration. The U.S. was embarrassed by the ongoing hostage crisis in Iran. An Carter-okayed attempted rescue operation failed. Inflation was roaring. Wages couldn't keep up. An energy crisis sent fuel prices higher. Overseas and at home, the U.S. was discouraged, and millions were unhappy. Sound familiar?
According to Wikipedia, here was the result of that election: Republican Ronald "Reagan won the election in a landslide, with 489 Electoral College votes to Carter's 49 and 50.7% of the popular vote to Carter's 41.0%. Anderson won 6.6% of the popular vote and no electoral votes." Let's be clear, we are not predicting that kind of landslide against Democratic presidential hopeful Kamala Harris (D) and her running mate, Governor Tim Walz (MN-D). That said, if the more of the mainstream media were doing a more balanced job of reporting, that sort of outcome now is certainly possible. There is more going wrong for Democrat Kamala than there was for Democrat Jimmy Carter. Because Joe Biden has stepped aside for Kamala, his VP, to run, she is essentially an incumbent. Incumbents normally have the advantage.
Sky News is from Australia. The intro in this video below is from Sky News, but the base video was from the U.S. based Media Research Center (MRC). You have back to back media calling Kamala Harris (D) 'the border czar' and later newscasters denying that Harris was ever the border czar.
J.D. Vance had a valid point. The Harris-Biden team entered the White House about 1400 days ago. Essentially all of these problems blossomed since they came into office. When this happened to Democratic President Jimmy Carter, he was soundly voted out - a one term president. Perhaps the biggest reason that Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are doing as well as they are is because enough media, enough big tech, and enough big government are tilted in their favor. The Media Research Center (MRC) paints the picture.

Despite the big money, big tech, big media advantages, there are reasons to think that Trump-Vance ticket are breaking through. Perhaps a big part of it is the stunning array of bad news, far worse than when Jimmy Carter was president.

Higher taxes ahead with Harris-Walz for the middle class (see linked article below). More Blacks, more Hispanics, more young adults, and more women are supporting the Trump-Vance ticket than in prior years. Per Election Time, Harris trails where Biden and Hillary Clinton where at this time in their campaigns against Trump.
