Dover Pleads Guilty, Gets 10-Year Sentence In Carr Murder Case

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- One of four suspects charged in connection with the April 2015 murder of a Bartow County man has entered a guilty plea for her part in the crime.

Rebecca Leeann Dover pleaded guilty on Wednesday, Aug. 3 to one count of conspiracy to commit robbery, said Cherokee Judicial Circuit Assistant District Attorney Sharon Fox.

Dover, who was 18 at the time of her arrest, received a 10-year sentence, five of which she will have to serve in prison. She also has to pay a $1,000 fine, $350 in attorney fees, $10,581 in restitution and was ordered to have no contact with the family of Robert Ashley Carr.

Dover initially tried to enter a negotiated plea offered by her attorneys, but Bartow County Superior Court Judge Suzanne Smith would not accept the offer at the time.

Bartow sheriff's deputies found Carr shot to death on April 7, 2015, in the parking lot of Woodright Industries along U.S. 411 in unincorporated Cartersville.

Earlier this year, defendants Arrick Deandrae Camps and Bernard Mario Dixon were sentenced to life in prison plus five years with the possibility of parole for their role in the murder. Both had been found guilty of killing Carr, who was 36 at the time.

Fellow defendant Elizabeth Morgan Kelley pleaded guilty to party to a crime of armed robbery and aggravated assault, and was sentenced by Judge Smith to a total of 40 years, 10 of which she will have to serve in prison.

The trial for the final defendant in the case, Stephanie Fawn Gardner, will be held the week of Oct. 24, Fox added.
