A piece of an Olympic gold medal that was stolen from a Midtown restaurant parking lot has been returned to its owner. Two weeks ago, Joe Jacobi -- an Olympic canoeist -- and his wife were having dinner with their 15-year-old daughter at LaFonda on Howell Mill Road. They were taking their daughter to the airport but stopped for dinner beforehand. But someone stole Jacobi's backpack from his car, and his gold medal was inside. >>> Read more.

'Good Samaritan' Tries To Break Up Fight, Gets Shot

A man who tried to intervene in a fight outside a Peachtree Corners bar Saturday was shot in the head, police say. According to police, Thomas Rushworth, 45, of Duluth, stepped in to try to break up a fight between two couples in the parking lot of Tavern at Medlock, located at 3230 Medlock Bridge Road. Officers were called to the scene shortly before 1 a.m., where witnesses told them that two couples were having a heated argument in the parking lot.
