• Castlewood bridge closure frustrates residents ahead of city meeting (wtvm.com) — Residents in Columbus' Castlewood and Georgian Hills neighborhoods are still detouring after a key bridge was closed July 6 following vehicle damage, and many say the longer routes are a real inconvenience. City engineering director Vance Beck outlined options, from full replacement to a pedestrian-only span or returning the area to a natural stream, during a recent Columbus Consolidated Government meeting at Gentian Elementary.
   

• Mayor of Jinju, South Korea pays a visit to the Fountain City nearly a year following sister city agreement (wrbl.com) — Columbus residents are welcoming a delegation from Jinju, South Korea, as their sister-city partners visit for ceremonies at city hall and tours of local businesses and schools. City leaders say the relationship aims to boost educational, cultural, and business exchanges, with Columbus State University's Korean Institute helping coordinate the visit and deepen ties between the two communities.
   

• Columbus man killed in Opelika motorcycle crash (nowgeorgia.com) — A 66-year-old Columbus man died after his motorcycle collided with an SUV in Opelika on Friday afternoon, September 4, despite medics' efforts at the scene and at East Alabama Medical Center. Opelika Police say the SUV's driver and passenger suffered only minor injuries, and their traffic homicide unit is continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
