Paulding County Animal Control, which regularly shares stories of pet rescues and reunions on Facebook (this one’s called “Dino’s Story”), said the resident heard the kitten over and over, but each time he looked he couldn’t find it.
On Tuesday, he called Animal Control for some help. Searchers could hear but not see the kitten, but they eventually found it more than six feet down inside a PVC fence post. When the post cap was pulled off, rescuers could see the “hungry, wet, thirsty and scared” kitten inside.

The kitten was named “Dino” after the resident who kept looking.
“This little kitten has survived this ordeal at such a young age and is now in recovery until he is ready for his new home,” Animal Control posted on Facebook.
It was not known how the kitten got into the fence post.
