Friends and family of the 42-year-old woman who was brutally beaten on a section of the Silver Comet Trail last week are raising money to help pay for a reward to catch her attacker and to cover her medical expenses.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Tina Waddell, the victim of the attack, will need to have her jaw wired shut for four to six weeks as a result of the attack. Additionally, Waddell’s husband said that every bone in his wife’s face was broken by the assailant.

A group of bicycle riders at MyCycleCoach is putting together a fundraising/awareness ride for Waddell, which is scheduled to kick off at first light on Tuesday, Aug. 5. The initial group of riders will travel from the Publix on the East-West Connector along the Silver Comet Trail to the state line. Riders who want to join the procession later are invited to meet at The Red Caboose at mile marker 14.6 in Hiram.
Another way to get involved is to donate money to the Take Back the Trail for Tina Fund at any SunTrust Bank location.

A similar event took place over the weekend, when Waddell’s supporters walked two miles along the trail from Drummond Park in Paulding County to complete the section of the trail that Waddell was unable to complete because of her assault.
Currently, police have no leads or suspects in Waddell’s assault.
