Missing Person Found Killed in Paulding

Howard Sewell had been reported missing in Cobb County on June 1.

DALLAS, GA -- The body of a missing Cobb County man has been found in Paulding County and authorities say he was the victim of homicide.

Howard Sewell was reported missing in Cobb County on June 1. At the time the report was filed, he had been missing two or three days, according to the Paulding County Sheriff's Office.

On June 3, at 8:46 p.m., deputies were called to the scene of an unidentified body that had apparently been dumped just off of Marietta Highway behind Gerber Auto Body Shop.

The body was sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime and was later identified as Sewell.

Forensic pathologists also determined that the cause of death was homicide, the sheriff's office said in a news release.

"Since this is an active investigation, Detectives and Agents are unable to release any additional details at this time," the sheriff's office said in the release.

The sheriff's office, GBI, Cobb County Sheriff's Office and Marietta Police are investigating Sewell's disappearance and death.

Crime Stoppers is offering up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.
