An open house is scheduled next week to discuss the Dalton Expansion Pipeline Project, a proposed 110-mile natural gas pipeline that would run through Paulding and other northwest Georgia counties.

The open house is to be held 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24 at the Dallas Civic Center, at 121 E. Griffin Street.

Williams, which owns and operates the Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Company, an interstate natural gas transmission pipeline system, is proposing to expand the system to serve two natural gas companies in Georgia — Atlanta Gas Light and Oglethorpe-Smith Energy Facility.
According to a county news release, the pipeline project includes the following:
• Construct a new 110 mile pipeline (known as the Dalton Lateral) in Coweta, Carroll, Douglas, Bartow, Gordon, Paulding, Whitfield and Murray Counties.
• Construct three meter stations at the interconnect points in Bartow and Murray Counties
• Construct a pipeline spur lateral that will connect the Dalton Lateral with the Murray meter station.
• Construct a new compressor station in Carroll County.
At the open house, stakeholders, landowners and the public can learn more about the project and ask questions
The pipeline company says it wants to put the project into service by May 1, 2017
